TASTE is an assortment of chef-driven, quick-service casual eateries located in the contemporary Downtown LA open air shopping center, FIGat7th. Among the unique mix of this dining collection are Pizza Studio, Loteria Grill, and Gentaro Soba; each professionally constructed by the Howard CDM team.

Working under the rigorous guidelines of Brookfield, all operations were conducted during off-hours and incorporated the use of negative air machines to prevent construction debris from entering occupied space. Frequent collaboration and communication between all parties involved was necessary in order to adhere to the particular policies and procedures of the FIGat7th brand.

Pizza Studio: A fast growing build-your-own-pizza concept, TASTE was Pizza Studio’s second Southern California location. Notable aspects include custom pizza pan light fixtures, custom millwork and marble countertops, and a polished cement “starving artist wall” that displays artwork for sale from local artists.

Loteria Grill/Torta Company: Chef Jimmy Shaw brought his sixth Loteria Grill to TASTE, along with his brand new concept, Torta Company. These restaurant stalls are divided by a full service, sit down bar. In order to create the perfect torta, an extensive ventilation system and authentic flat-top grill was installed. Other features include an open kitchen, custom millwork and countertops, and customized signage which required additional permits and electrical work.

Gentaro Soba: This Toyko-based buckwheat soba chain chose TASTE for its first US outpost. Notable components include custom millwork, specialty kitchen equipment from Japan and a high end, reverse osmosis water filtration system to ensure the perfectly prepared soba noodle.
